Our Carers Shopping Cards provide a modern, safe and secure way for carers employed by individuals or commissioned by local authorities to access smaller amounts of money for the people they care for. This system is seen as best practice and is used by thousands of carers across the UK.

The award winning facility was developed in 2012 by The Money Carer Foundation with our banking services provider, Cashplus. to solve the problem of providing the carers of our own clients access to 'shopping money' on a regular basis in a safe and secure way.

As the solution worked really well, and as so many other organisations asked us about it, we decided to make it available to individuals directly via our own dedicated banking platform that we have with the Cashplus Group.

Cashplus has provided award winning innovative banking services to 1.4 million customers over the last 12 years and is the original 'challenger' bank to the high street banks and has a stated focus to provide banking services for those individuals who are typically 'overlooked' by traditional banks.

What Does It Cost?

£5.00 Per Month

The Money Carer Foundation charges a fixed monthly fee of £5 (per service user) to individuals who wish to use our carers card service so that their carers can have access to agreed amounts of shopping money to support their everyday needs.

Cashplus (our bank) charge £60 per bank account per year and this fee is debited directly by Cashplus from each carers card bank account on the anniversary of the date the account was opened.

So, as an example, if you are an individual and you wish to open one carers card account to be used by your carers to meet your shopping needs you would be charged an initial fee of £60 to open the account. Thereafter, one year later, Cashplus would debit from your carers card account directly their annual fee of £60. Each month, The Money Carer Foundation simply charge a fee of £5.

Cashplus also charge some additional fees for the operation of the prepaid Mastercard that your carers would use to do your shopping or provide you with cash for your own use. These consist of a cash withdrawal fee from ATM machines of £0.99p and a card replacement fee of £5.95. The cards are free to use in stores or online.
