Our Preferred Deputyship Service

The Money Carer Foundation does not provide a deputyship service in-house, rather we work with our legal partners in the Court of Protection team at JMW Solicitors, one of a small number of panel deputies selected by the Office of the Public Guardian (OPG).

We triage referrals made into the organisation and our deputyship service is very popular, relied on by many referring partners such as local authorities, charities, care providers and family members, especially when resources are strained and vulnerable people need a fast and professional deputyship service.

The Court of Protection team at JMW Solicitors provide a wide range of deputyship services, supporting family members, social workers, local authorities and care providers connected with the vulnerable person. If a person loses the capacity to manage their property and financial affairs, an application to the Court of Protection needs to be made to appoint a deputy.

Without this, nobody can deal with their house, bank accounts, bills, debts, care fees or to ensure they have enough money for everyday needs such as food. This may be troublesome, especially for someone who is already vulnerable. Along with Money Carer, JMW Solicitors support the most vulnerable in society; to promote their quality of life and autonomy.

Why use JMW Solicitors:

  • They provide trusted expertise in handling deputyship matters with 100 years of combined experience.
  • There is no charge to the family member, social worker, local authority or care provider. They have a minimal fixed fee set by the court that is charged to the client. These fees are the lowest rates available and their hourly rates are capped. This is significantly less than others who, very often, charge a higher rate.
  • They have an exclusive relationship with us at The Money Carer Foundation. This means collectively, we can provide a unique, highly personable approach by offering the most appropriate and bespoke services available. For example, providing an appointeeship service pending the deputyship being put in place by the Court of Protection. This relationship allows us to work with almost all types of vulnerable people.
  • They are on the panel for the Office of the Public Guardian (OPG), ranked in UK Chambers and Legal 500, founding members of Court of Protection committees and finalist of Private Client Team of the Year 2020.
  • They offer full UK geographical coverage, visiting clients at their home. They do this in casual clothing, building trust and rapport.
  • As well as being dementia friend champions, the team are also dedicated members of numerous professional bodies, including; the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), Solicitors for the Elderly (SFE), Court User Group (CUG), as well as being members of the Court of Protection Practitioners’ Association (CoPPA), and the Professional Deputies Forum (PDF).
