What Are The Options If The Client Lacks Capacity?

If the client has been assessed to lack capacity then they will not be able to access the Carers Shopping Card Service themselves directly. 

In such cases it would need to be the clients Appointee, Attorney (LPA) or Deputy that would need to access the service on their behalf. If a person has lost capacity but does not have anyone to oversee their day to day finances then a referral to the relevant local authority social work team would be recommended in order for a reassessment of their care needs to be undertaken.
