Salford Council delays cuts
Salford Council will delay plans to cut support services for deaf children and close elderly day centres. The council had intended to reduce the number of support teachers for deaf children and shut down three of the city's elderly day centres – Humphrey Booth in Ordsall, Craig Hall in Irlam and Brierley House in Little Hulton.
Changes to services for children with hearing loss will be considered by a panel of parents and officials. The elderly day centres will remain open for the next year while plans for the buildings that house them are reviewed.
