Prime Minister to look into abuse at Wirral Council

The Prime Minister will look into allegations of overcharging vulnerable adults and violence and intimidation at Wirral Council. The allegations were exposed in the recent Anna Klonowski report, which looked into the claims of whistleblower Martin Morton, a former Wirral social services employee.

Mr Morton says he was bullied and forced out of his job after exposing the financial abuse of vulnerable people in council care. The council has now apologised to Mr Morton and says changes have been made to address the issues raised in the report. Wirral West MP Esther McVey brought the matter to Mr Cameron’s attention during PM's questions.

Leader of Wirral Council Cllr Steve Foulkes is now facing calls to resign over his handling of the situation; he will face two votes of no confidence when the council meets on February 13.
